INSPECTOR SPACETIME CONVENTION EPISODE

A strong tonal reboot for, hopefully, a strong second season. And still no laughs when Pierce and Shirley show up, uninvited, and are corralled into a focus group to help shape the American remake of the Inspector Spacetime show, leading Pierce to pitch in ideas like getting rid of space and time and hiring a sexy blonde with a tennis racket as the Inspector’s companion. Next week’s is about their history class, so I’m sure that will have a couple – but this is three episodes in a row without a traditional study room scene, which is often a license to print comic gold. It pains me to write such a negative review, but the structure of this new ‘Community’ is starting to become uncomfortably clear: Yes No Report this. Conventions of Space and Time 21 Feb 7. Unfortunately, the bulk of the episode feels like a lead-in to a punchline, confirmed with the final scene, in which Jeff has his friends take video while he rips his shirt open and quotes his villain doppelganger’s catchphrase, “Bow down before Thoraxis,” made even funnier when the convention attendees actually bow down.

How’s that for motivation? That leaves Jeff and Annie, in a subplot I’ve seen being ripped apart on Twitter by others who got to see the episode early. How’s that for motivation? Hell, last weekend I even went to an actual Community convention here in LA, spending the better part of a day listening to the writers talk about abandoned plotlines and hearing behind the scenes stories from some of Greendale’s supporting student body the actors who play Neil, Vicki, Todd, Garrett, Quendra and “Black Hitler” all showed up.

That it hasn’t produced a downright terrible episode in my opinion is a promising sign, since things always get better. Meanwhile, Pierce and Shirley, who were not invited to the con, decide to come anyway and are instantly targeted by focus group moderators who need non-fans to give feedback about an upcoming American version of Spacetime. That leaves Jeff and Annie, in a subplot I’ve seen being ripped apart on Twitter by others who got to see the episode early.

The episode opens with Troy and Britta in bed! It’s not a comedic powerhouse like Community at its best but it got several laughs out of me. But that’s not enough. Full Cast and Crew. Troy Barnes Jim Rash Pierce, of course, turns the show into an awful, unrecognizable piece of shit, but it’s easy to see the meta-point inspecyor their scenes: Plus, otherwise the two wouldn’t have any presence in the episode, so it’s better than nothing, and while Yvette Nicole Brown doesn’t get to do anything but try to stop Pierce, Chevy seems to be having fun – enjoy it while you can!

Pierce Hawthorne Matt Lucas Start your free trial. Staying in Jeff’s room, Annie puts on a big show about being his wife, ordering room service and various accommodations, and eventually taking the act too far when an attendant tells her that Jeff might be “cheating” on her in the lobby.

I can see why folks would hate on it – it makes Annie seem a bit pathetic, but we should remember that she IS still young only 22, something I often forget about her and Troy since the actors who play them are 30 and 29, respectively and even says that she’s never stayed in “a hotel that didn’t have a number in its name,” so it’s not hard to see why she’d have fun playing make-believe when she had nothing else better to do anyway.

Season 4 Episode 3. Yes No Report this. It’s a cute conceit and one that feels right at home in the ‘Community’ universe, but there’s very little to laugh at — even when Jeff is mistaken by a sexy female fan to be the show’s most famous villain.

I think it’s pretty clear by now that Season 4 has slightly different priorities than the show had before, namely putting more weight on the sentimental parts. However, I was troubled by one thing – this is yet another episode that takes place almost entirely off campus.

Oh, and you get to see Gillian Jacobs in her underwear. Some of the “wedge between Troy and Abed” stuff was covered in the season opener, but this time it’s Troy who feels threatened, as Abed has made a new friend named Toby Matt Lucasan even bigger Spacetime inspetor who dismisses Troy and “steals” Abed away from him as Britta explains “I’ve seen that look, other women have GIVEN me that look – he’s stealing your boyfriend! I’ve been trying to give this Dan Harmon -less season of ‘Community’ a fair shake — the first episode was a mixed epsode, and mostly felt like it was concocted of recycled themes and bits to reassure viewers that nothing had changed; the second episode, which aired last week, was flat, lacking in the jokes and energy and, well, spirit, that made us love ‘Community’ in the first place; and this third episode is even flatter than last week’s, if that’s possible.

Jeff sulks until he meets a very attractive fan Tricia Helfer who believes him to be one of the actors from the show Jeff doesn’t deny it, though I’m baffled why after all this time neither Troy or Abed mentioned his uncanny resemblance, as he just finds out once he’s at the conbut Annie goes up to the room, where she is mistaken for “Mrs.
